TOWN HALL MEETING ON MULTIPLE CHEMICAL SENSITIVITIES
ISSUES PAPER
By Ann McCampbell, MD
On June 24, 1996, the NM Governor’s Committee on Concerns of the Handicapped (now the NM Commission on Disabilities) convened a Town Hall meeting on Multiple Chemical Sensitivities (MCS).
The purpose of the public forum was to discuss the problems faced by chemically sensitive New Mexicans and propose state level solutions. A panel of representatives from state agencies heard from people with MCS on issues of:
- Housing
- Employment
- Health Care
- Pesticides
- Schools
- Access to State Facilities and Services
Ann McCampbell, MD organized and moderated the meeting and wrote a Discussion Paper. The Discussion Paper was amended to reflect the testimony and statements made at the meeting and became the Issues Paper.
